VIBGYOR High celebrates one of the fastest growing Model United Nations in India

VIBGYOR High Model United Nations (VHMUN), an initiative by VIBGYOR HIGH Group of schools, India is one of the biggest and fastest growing Model United Nations in India, launched in June 2011. VHMUN has played a vital role to inspire the youth and get connected with the issues of global importance. It has given them an opportunity to polish their social skills and channel their voices. At VHMUN, Delegates – the representatives from different countries, step into the shoes of international diplomats and discuss issues that demand global attention.

The fifth edition of VHMUN kick started its 5th annual conference in The Westin hotel of Goregaon East from 25th June 2015 to 27th June 2015. Mr. Rohit Bansal, Group Head, Corporate Communication, Reliance Industries Ltd. was present as the Chief Guest and Keynote speaker at the event while Ms Maria Davydenko, Vice Consul, US Consulate General, Mumbai was the Speaker at the closing ceremony. Besides, Ms. Priyanka Chaturvedi, National Spokesperson, Indian National Congress was also present at the event. There were more than 400 delegates from Mumbai and all over India; Delegates from New Zealand and US were also present at the conference.
During the conference, Mr. Rohit Bansal, Group Head, Corporate Communication, Reliance Industries Ltd. said that, “I am extremely privileged to be a part of VHMUN 5 where the goal is to empower individual students anywhere in the world to act as leaders. I am sure that such an universal platform will help students to network on an international scale and build contacts in the process.”

There were 6 Committees present at VHMUN including the United Nations Special Summit (UNSS), Disarmament and Security Council (DISEC), Special Political and Decolonization (SPECPOL), Human Rights Council (HRC), Historical Security Council (HSC) and Security Council (SC). This year 6 VIBGYOR schools across 4 states of India and delegations from more than 30 Schools from all over the country had participated in VHMUN 5. The glittering venue was filled and enlighten with Secretariat and Executive Board from different prestigious schools and colleges (VIBGYOR HIGH, Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Bombay Scottish, University of Toronto and a few more) with a combined experience of chairing more than a 100 local, national and international MUNs.
