12th Dec 2016 (http://www.automationconcepts.co.in/): A discussion on secure, durable credentials with advanced card materials typically takes our imagination to a large protected warehouse with card printers propelling thousands of cards at once on massive sheets. Such is the case for several countries issuing national ID cards and states giving out driver licenses in central issuance environments, however, the fact is majority of cards today are still printed on desktop card printers. It doesn’t mean that an issuer can’t use advanced card materials having high security and enhanced durability just because he is using a desktop printer. In fact, it has been seen that in most cases it can be done using prevailing desktop zebra id card printer.
For instance, an organization wants to issue a new employee ID card with enhanced security and durability, however, doesnt want to discard the existing employee id card printer. Yes, he can do that but needs to have a proper planning. The company can start the process by checking with its card supplier to look for options associated with advanced card materials, such as composite cards that include polyester and Teslin. These composite materials enhance the cards durability and lifespan while also opening doors for enhanced security and counterfeit resistance. After the company selects the material for the card, it needs to figure out the ways to better secure the credential. There are several options through which it can do it such as inks, various text, holograms and designs that can be embedded deep within the substrate layers of the card making tampering or altering more difficult.
After the process of selection of the composite materials and security objects is completed, the card supplier would prepare and preprint certain elements of the cards and ship them to the company. At the point of issuance, the company would insert the card blanks into their prevailing desktop student id card printer for personalization, just as they had done in the past. Experts do opine that there could be some differences depending on the advanced card material used by the company. A plain PVC card might have certain security elements pre-printed and then be personalized with biographical and other data at the time of issuance. An overlay laminate could then be used to prevent alteration of that personalization.
While not many companies use laser engraving of polycarbonate cards on the point desktop, there are some effective steps that companies can take for creating more secure and durable id cards using their id cards printer in Mumbai.
