The Spanish chain Montaditos’ has arrived in America, planning to open up to 4,000 franchise restaurants in the United States in the near future.
Madrid, Spain, July 26, 2013 - The Spanish chain Montaditos’ has arrived in America, planning to open up to 4,000 franchise restaurants in the United States in the near future.
The chain’s general manager, Carlos Pérez Tenorio, told EFE that his business’ model has conquered Spain and that the chain is now looking to beat the number of outlets of the American fast food restaurant McDonald’s. It has already achieved this if one considers the company’s first 10 years in existence.
The Montaditos’ expansion process will involve opening 2,000 to 4,000 restaurants on a franchise basis. "Any organised restaurant franchise wanting to develop in the United States can plan by looking to the previous experience of others, which shows the best number to be between 2,000 and 4,000 restaurants", said Pérez Tenorio.
He said the United States and Latin America region is "open to everything new and, above all, to all things Spanish" unlike the European market, "which is much more mature", making it difficult to carve out a niche here. He also stressed that there had been a turning point in Americans’ attitude towards improving their eating habits. "In developed countries, this "healthy eating" culture is becoming very firmly rooted."
