Spanish Cuisine Conquers Poland

Madrid, Spain, April 02, 2013 - Spanish cuisine is the latest fashion in Poland, a country where cheeses and cold meats, especiallychorizo, have increased their fan base.

Spanish products have found a port of entrance into the Polish market and are conquering the Polish through their stomachs. Restaurants that offer dishes like oxtail or suckling pig are multiplying, and this is creating an unusually sharp increase in interest in Spanish cuisine.

The flavours of Spain are well known to the Polish thanks to tourism. They come to Spain and their palates discover the joys of the local flavours, and when they go back to their country they want more. And that is where restaurants like “Casa Pablo” and “Hiszpanski Smak” (“Spanish Taste”) come in, making Spanish cuisine a highly appreciated brand for Polish palates.

“Spanish cuisine is growing. Every time a Polish person returns from Spain they are very excited about the food they found there. That’s why the restaurants have so much success here, because Polish people keep going back,” says Pablo Martín, owner of “Casa Pablo”.

Florencio González and Jesús Iríbar founded “Hiszpanski Smak” a year ago. Both consider that “the sense is that the Polish perceive Spanish products as good, high quality, healthy and this has helped us a great deal in introducing it. Products like fuet and loganiza are popular. But they especially like chorizo”.

The Spaniards who work in the food sector in Poland have no doubt that there are a lot of possibilities and many opportunities. “Especially right now, with the situation in Spain, it should encourage producers a little more to try to export, to fight on. They will see that it can be done, that there is a growing interest and that they can sell their products”, say the owners of “Hiszpanski Smak”.
