recombinant protein has been shown to inhibit diseased human prions.
For the first time, recombinant protein has been shown to inhibit diseased human prions. Prion diseases including mad cow disease and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, are always fatal making this work extremely relevant. The recombinant human prion protein developed by these researchers was generated in E.Coli and was demonstrated to stop the propagation of prions, the infectious pathogens causing prion diseases. The recombinant protein had the same protein sequence as the normal human prion protein, but lacked the attached sugars and lipids. Development of customized human proteins in E.Coli is supported by GenScript for research requiring recombinant protein. |
