Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, September 03, 2013 -- Pocket Films – India’s premier media house for alternate content, and Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) 2014, are delighted to present the “PINK CITY SHORT FILM CONTEST” – a short film contest providing an excellent opportunity to film makers to be recognized at an international film festival.

Participants are invited to send in their short films of upto 5 minutes in duration based on a story and theme of their choice. The organizers look forward to some original and creative work which can have an impact on the viewers’ minds.

“The Pink City of Jaipur is increasingly emerging as a hub for film makers and film enthusiasts equally. The Pink City Short Film Contest will give this a new dimension. This contest provides a new platform to the film makers and I hope that this contest will emerge as one of the better platforms in the world for short film makers” says Hanu Roj, founder director of JIFF.

Every film maker has a story in him / her waiting to be shared with the world. However, visualizing and conveying the story in under 5 minutes makes the process exciting and challenging. Also, viewers of the current digital age prefer to consume small bits of alternate entertainment and hence the demand for short films has been multiplying.

Saameer Mody, M.D. of Pocket Films says, “We are bullish on alternate content. Very, very bullish. We started with distribution of short films on internet and mobile in 2009 and today have over 57 million views on our YouTube channel. Through short film contests we aim to bring to the forefront, talent which was hitherto ignored. We are excited to partner with JIFF, the fastest growing film festival in India. We are also pitching in with a production grant for the winning film maker to make his next short film.”

The jury comprises of eminent film personalities like Mr. Amol Palekar (Actor - Director), Mr. Ketan Mehta (National Award Winning Director) and Vipin Sharma (Award Winning Actor).

The 3 winners of the contest will have their films screened at the prestigious festival in February 2014 and will be awarded at the gala award ceremony at Jaipur.
