New Guru on the Block - Ramakant Maharaj

By Ann Lewiss on July 23 2014 | 1140 Views

Shri Ramakant Maharaj is the new guru on the block, the one to look out for. He stands out from the rest because he is one of the very rare Realized Gurus, a true sage, and a Master of substance.

New York, NY, July 24, 2014 -- Unlike his contemporaries, Ramakant Maharaj is not launching a lucrative career as a Teacher or Master of “Non-Duality” or “Neo-Advaita”. He is part of a long and illustrious lineage of powerful Masters, (the Inchegiri Navnath Sampradaya), that includes, Bhausaheb Maharaj, Siddharameshwar Maharaj, Ranjit Maharaj, and Nisargadatta Maharaj, of the world-famous spiritual classic ’I Am That’.

A disciple of Nisargadatta Maharaj for nearly twenty years, this guru speaks from the “bottom of Reality”. Non-dual teachings of such a high calibre, that are radical, absolute, and cut through all concepts and illusions, till reaching “Ultimate Truth”, have not emerged since Nisargadatta Maharaj’s passing in 1981.

Ramakant Maharaj, like his Master before him, says: “I am not making you disciples, I am making you Masters.” He has no interest in fame, money, or having a cult following. He shares direct knowledge - Truth. “It is my duty to share this Knowledge, the same knowledge that my Master shared with me.”

Maharaj wants to help others become enlightened, and for this, a Self-Realized Master is essential. He says: “So many people teaching today with only book knowledge (what he terms ’dry’ or ’little’ knowledge), some body experiences, but no knowledge in a ’Real’ sense, no Self-Knowledge! How can they guide? This is like the blind leading the blind.”

There is no exploitation, with these teachings, misleading or making others dependent on him which often happens. He is not selling knowledge or mantras. He teaches for free. His lineage has plenty to say on the commercialization of knowledge. “Knowledge is free. Truth is free. No disciple should ever ask for monies in exchange for knowledge.” However, he does ask for payback of a sort: “Before you leave, deposit your mind, intellect and ego,” he says, with a smile. “That is all I ask from you.”

Guru Poornima Day (a day for paying homage to the guru), takes place on July 12-13. It is no surprise that a large crowd of disciples will gather at the ashram in Nashik, Maharashtra, to pay respect and give thanks to this rare jewel, this genuine and extraordinary Master - Shri Ramakant Maharaj.
