Mayor Levine’s Vision for Miami Beach Shares Common Goal with Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Education Foundation

Mayor Philip Levine announced his vision for the Miami Beach during the Quarterly Pillar Breakfast hosted by the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce. One of the goals mentioned by Mayor Levine that morning was to push North Beach forward by encouraging great educational institutions to come to the area. Therefore, education would be the catalyst to stimulate growth in North Beach.

This is welcoming news for the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Education Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization that has been working to provide educational opportunities for residents in Miami Beach. They encourage greater support and more efficient use of government and private resources towards the development and further patronage of public schools in the Miami Beach area.

Some of the philanthropic activity that the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Education Foundation include providing scholarships to recent public school high school graduates to continue their education at the university level and fund the expenses for local public high schools to have International Baccalaureate (IB) programs that help prepare their students for an ever globalizing world.

How Mayor Levine’s vision for expanding North Beach by promoting educational opportunities to come to the area shares a common goal with the work the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Education Fund is that students supported by the non-profit will have more local opportunities to use the scholarships they receive to attend the new universities Mayor Levine and his administration plan to attract to the area. According to Mayor Levine, several universities have indicated their interest to come to North Beach and he is open to the potential growth that will follow so he is going to allow them to come. The reason why he welcomes the arrival of these universities to North Beach is because he believes they will stimulate growth in the area. For the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Education Fund, this is a chance for the students it supports through the scholarship funds they raise and the public high school programs they support like the International Baccalaureate, to have more access to opportunities to receive a higher education degree and get a job in the area after graduation to promote socio-economic growth. Therefore, these actions from both Mayor Levine and the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Education Foundation demonstrate one thing they can agree on: education is the key to the development and revitalization of Miami Beach’s community. With the establishment of more universities in the North Beach area, the children of the residents of Miami Beach will have more access to higher education opportunities than before, especially to those who receive scholarships or benefit from the IB programs the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Education Fund patronizes. This in turn will lead to a more educated, richly diverse community in the Miami Beach area for years to go.
