Tate Publishing is proud to announce the signing of local authors, and grandmother/granddaughter duo, Ronda Sandall and Hailee Gene and their soon-to-be-published book Hands.

Oregon City, OR, October 08, 2014 -- Tate Publishing is proud to announce the signing of local authors, and grandmother/granddaughter duo, Ronda Sandall and Hailee Gene and their soon-to-be-published book Hands.

Hands is a story of how a little girl discovers she can face her fears and lock them away. By writing down her story, Hailee is able to take control of her future.

Based on a true story, Sandall shares that the inspiration from the book culminated on one dark and dreary day [when] Hailee and her parents went shopping at the local department store. While shopping, Hailees father picked up a Halloween candy dish to show his 3 year old daughter. When Hailee turned to look she saw that the dish had a hand in the middle. The hand moved and a voice creeched do you want some candy? This frightened Hailee. She did not like the dish with a hand in it. She did not see where her dad put the dish and always wondered where the hand went. Hailee decided to ask her Nana, Where are the hands? From that time on Hailee told Nana stories and Nana wrote them down.

Sandall explores two major themes in the book: courage and fear. I would hope young children could find the courage to experience the adventure rather than be limited by the fear of it, says Sandall.

Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book will be available upon its release through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.

Ronda Sandall is Nana to Hailee Gene, who was born December 16, 1999 in Portland. Ore. She was taken immediately to surgery where an open-heart procedure was performed. She subsequently had two more open-heart surgeries. She is an only child that lives happily ever after with her Dad and Mom in Portland and loves reading, writing, scary stories and attending her language immersion school. She has developed a special and close relationship with her Nana. Together they wrote the book Hands to help Hailee deal with and face her fears.
