Keep your files safe with drive image backup software

August 1, 2020: TeraByte is proud to announce the launch of a new release of its popular drive image backup and restore software. Version 3.41 offers several fixes, tweaks, and other enhancements. Users can now take advantage of enhanced make disk support by putting files of 4GB or more on a TBWinPE boot drive. Improvements have also been made to the way certain file path variables work.

Why use drive image backup software?

The most important advantage of using drive image backup software is that it ensures nothing gets left behind. After all, chances are not all of the important files are in the documents folder. TeraByte makes takes a complete snapshot of the entire drive to include operating systems, applications, file systems and tables, and all personal documents. This reduces the risk of human error when managing regular backup routines.

You can even continue using your computer while backups are being made, as TeraByte uses the Volume Shadow Copy (VSS) service in Windows to eliminate the inconsistencies that would normally arise when recording a drive image of a volume that is in use. However, if for any reason the VSS can’t start, it will fall back to PHYLock instead to achieve similar results. This is especially useful, since it can take some time to back up a typical modern hard drive with such a high capacity.

Drive images are not just useful for backing up your files. They also save a huge amount of time if you are replacing your computer or hard drive, as there is no longer any need to manually reinstall the operating system and applications and drivers. Instead, you can simply extract the image onto a sufficiently large drive and start using the new machine straight away. It is especially useful to have this ability when upgrading or replacing PCs as well.
