New Delhi, New Delhi (pressrelease) February 17, 2015 - The 7th edition of India Art Fair closed on a high, with over 80,000 visitors, and 25% stronger sales than previous editions, indicating a noticeable revival in the contemporary sector. A major trend to emerge is the increase in younger collectors (with the largest number of buyers under 30 since the fair began), and younger artists, not just from the tier-1 cities, but as far a field as Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and Jaipur. Purchases also came from further afield with a significant amount of Indian art going to buyers from the Middle East, Doha, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, New Zealand and Australia, illustrating the geographical depth of engagement Indian art is increasingly enjoying. In the 7th edition over 100 international patrons attended the fair from museum groups including the Guggenheim Bilbao (Spain), Santa Barbara Museum of Art (USA), Art Gallery of New South Wales (Australia) and Tel Aviv Museum of Art (Israel). |
