Ifema Exports its Trade Fair Model

By Marca Espana on April 06 2013 | 575 Views

Three trade fairs in Asia and Latin America will stimulate trade and the Marca España.

Madrid, Spain, April 05, 2013 - Three trade fairs in Asia and Latin America will stimulate trade and the Marca España.

The Trade Fair Institution of Madrid (Ifema) will export its fair model this year with three trade fairs in the renewable energies, security and electronics and electrical sectors in Asia and Latin America, demonstrating a focus on the expansion of foreign national trade and the promotion of the Marca España abroad.

According to Luis Eduardo Cortés, President of the Ifema Executive Committee, the organisation of these new trade fairs is derived from the need to “sell a positive image of Madrid and Spain” through internationalisation and the attraction of new investors.

Cortés explained that, from among all of the projects Ifema organises they have chosen those that link the industries of security, renewable energies and electronics as “sectors that are not too affected” and that “are interested” in the possibilities of expansion offered by countries such as China, which led the industrial construction market with a 9 percent growth in 2012.

The first stage of the initiative will be the organization of two trade fairs in Chile on security (Sicur) and renewable energies (Genera), and another in China (Matelec EIBT), aimed at the electrical materials market. The format will be the same as the trade fairs organized in Madrid and will feature Spanish companies with an interest in foreign markets.

In terms of renewable energies, Ifema is taking a “strong position” in Chile, where it forecasts an increase from 4 to 20 percent in the total energy generation coming from renewable energies by 2020.

Cortés clarified that “the idea of exporting trade fairs” must have a “boomerang effect”, not only for the activities of Ifema, considered an economic driver of Madrid, but also for those of Spain.
