Grady Sibert Builds the Napa Valley Give!Guide

By Grady Sibert on January 02 2014 | 374 Views

Napa Valley resident Grady Sibert builds the Napa Valley Give!Guide. A website that enables the public to easily donate to one or more of the participating nonprofits via a simple to use website.

Napa, CA On November 1, 2013, Grady Siberts company, Tummel.Me, launched the Napa Valley Give!Guide, a project of Napa Valley CanDo. The Give!Guide is a website that enables the public to easily donate to one or more of the participating nonprofits.

The goal was to break down barriers and help people get in the habit of year-end giving, said Grady Sibert, founder of Tummel.Me, the web development company tasked with building the website.

We wanted to make the website as simple as possible and accessible on mobile devices, he said. And the goal became removing everything between the donor and the nonprofit.

Reception by the community has been overwhelming and the Give!Guide has already raised over $30,000 for local nonprofits.

We obviously could not have made this happen without you, said the Give!Guide, in a note to Grady.

Ties to Leadership Napa Valley

The guide was modeled after a similar project in the Portland area and was brought to life here in Napa by a group of volunteers, most of whom were graduates of Leadership Napa Valley Class 26.

Grady is also a graduate of the Leadership Napa Valley program and currently serves on its board of directors and notes that its difficult to grasp how vast a role the program plays in enhancing the community.

The positive impact on the community that Leadership Napa Valley has made is truly immeasurable, said Grady. There are just too many graduates, doing too many great things, to try and quantify it.

Commitment to the Community

One of the reasons Grady was so excited to work on the Give!Guide project is his continued commitment to give back to the community of Napa Valley. A number of the nonprofits participating in the Give!Guide had their websites designed and built by Gradys company.

Using his company as a platform, Grady started the Tummeling for a Cause program. A program meant to give deserving nonprofits a new web presence.

I dont think its possible to go through life without making missteps, he said. Thats why I try to give back, add good karma to my account.

More About Grady Sibert

Grady wrote his first line of code when he was nine years old, on a Commodore Vic 20, and since then hasn’t strayed far from a computer.

While growing up in Tucson, Grady spent a great deal of his time involved in 4-H and FFA, raising and showing cattle, sheep and goats. He had a budding entrepreneurial spirit and treated these agricultural endeavors as business enterprises.

The son of a contractor, it was perhaps only natural that Grady would spend a bit of his professional life in the construction industry. After setting up the first computerized field office for Nova Group Inc., Grady was transferred to Hawaii and served on the project management team that constructed the pier at which the USS Missouri is mourned. While in Hawaii, Grady found time to become a certified PADI and NAUI dive instructor.

Later, Grady found himself overseeing construction of the wine caves at Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars. This segued into overseeing construction of the Winery at Quintessa and becoming the General Manager of Huneeus Vintners.

Six years ago, he managed to find his way back to his first love: computers.
