Good News for Ontario Immigration Applications

Ottawa, 05 February, 2014: Canadas Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander announced on 29 January, 2014 that from 30 January 2014 onwards, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has started accepting Ontario language certificates as a proof of language ability for the intention of applying for citizenship. The acceptance of this language certificate has open windows for Ontario applicants.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has their own list of acceptable evidences. The list includes results from the third party tests, academic certificates, and certification from Government-aided language programs. Now, Ontarios provincial Adult Non-Credit Language Training Program is accepted as evidence, which proves that the applicants meet language knowledge requirements.

According to the Canadian Citizenship Act of 1947, the adult applicants have had to furnish proof that they had adequate knowledge of English or French. It was a key determinant in order to be eligible for citizenship. Canadian Language Benchmarks / Niveau de comptence linguistique canadiens (CLB/NCLC) are the nationally recognized benchmarks to test the proficiency of adult immigrants in both the official languages that includes English and French. The candidate should reach level CLB 4 in speaking and listening skills.
