Four Spanish Universities are Among the World’s Top 100

Madrid, Spain, July 02, 2013 - The Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona is the top Spanish university, in the number 25 position.

The Times Higher Education 100 Under 50 shows evidence of progress among Spain’s universities. The leading Spanish university is the Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, which takes the number 25 spot. The other three are the Autónoma University of Madrid (number 52), the Technical University of Valencia (80) and the Technical University of Catalonia (99).

The Times Higher Education 100 Under 50 is a league table that ranks the world’s best universities that are under 50 years old. The aim is to give a vision of their future prospects, signalling which universities are likely to do best future. The ranking is based on the 13 indicators of the World University Rankings, but the methodology has been modified to include the special characteristics of these universities.

The list was drawn up by taking account of aspects such as the universities’ research and scientific influence, educational quality, students and their backgrounds, and innovation.

The improvement in Spanish universities goes hand in hand with the well-known quality of the Masters in Finance offered by Spanish academic institutions.

According to the Financial Times, the IE Business School and Esade are the five best economic academic institutions in the world. These two institutions were listed on the newspaper’s 2013 league table of Masters in Finance. Some 88 percent of students on the IE’s Master of Finance programme come from 29 different countries. Meanwhile, Esade’s Master of Finance has enormous international clout, according to theFinancial Times, with the salaries of its students being among the 10 highest of all the Masters degrees analysed.
