First introduction of TPU to Airwheel electric air board M3

In September 2015, Airwheel wrapped up its second new product release conference. In this new product release, the wireless remote control skateboard M3 appeared on the stage. This model showed its own feature and attracted all attendees at event. Afterwards, it soon made a splash in the market overseas and at home. Now it is prevalent in the Asian and European market for scooter. In M3, it is the first time for Airwheel to apply TPU to its intelligent self-balancing scooter. In order to have a better understanding the advantages of application of TPU to the electric drift hoverboard , it is necessary to know about the property of TPU. TPU is short for thermoplastic polyurethane, which is any of a class of polyurethane plastics with many properties, including elasticity, transparency, and resistance to oil, grease and abrasion. Technically, they are thermoplastic elastomers consisting of linear segmented block copolymers composed of hard and soft segments.

TPU has many applications including automotive instrument panels, caster wheels, power tools, sporting goods, medical devices, drive belts, footwear, inflatable rafts, and a variety of extruded film, sheet and profile applications. TPU is also a popular material found in outer cases of mobile electronic devices, such as mobile phones. It is also used to make keyboard protectors for laptops. This time, it is applied to Airwheel motorized skateboard M3. It can be hailed a veritable innovation.

The previous model uses PC as material. PC is a group of thermoplastic polymers containing carbonate groups in their chemical structures. Polycarbonates used in engineering are strong, tough materials, and some grades are optically transparent. They are easily worked, molded, and thermoformed. Because of these properties, polycarbonates find many applications. Polycarbonates do not have a unique Resin identification code. Therefore, PC cannot compared with TPU used in the motorized skateboard M3.
