FileOne v.1.2.7 for Windows and for Linux (Gnome and KDE)
FileOne is next generation organizer for personal fun and business use.
It might be an alternative for OneNote and/or EverNote. FileOne is in its basic form an email client and note taking app for the Windows and Linux desktop.
FileOne is operated by only ONE single window tabbed GUI and stores all you data inside ONE single file...... hence its name FileOne.
However FileOne can be seen as a next generation organizer/PIM since it can do so much more, like:
Create notes and documents
Send and receive email
Import image/photo files and view them
Import music tracks and play them
Create calendar/todo entries including meeting invitations
Play online radio streams
Record/rip from online radio streams
Import movies and play them
Download/rip movies from online video streams
Create slide shows from imported images
Create play lists from imported music tracks
Import any type of file and associate any type of editor or viewer with it
Hyperlink all entries to each other
Structure all entries using a treeview with drag, drop, copy and move operations
Use as a rich portable documentation/help vehicle with text, audio an movies
Generate free format invoices for self employed persons/small businesses
Mail anything from the treeview with just a right mouse click
Maintain contacts
Automatic inbox/outbox management
Use as a file storage engine
FileOne stores all data inside a single container file and is therefor 100% portable. Data created on Linux can be edited, viewed and played on Microsoft Windows and vice versa. The single file container is optimized to contain gigabytes of email, notes, documents, music tracks, videos and other binaries (like Word, Excel and .pdf files for example)
Why using FileOne if I can do it with.... all sorts of other programs!?
Why would somebody need at least 6 programs while this can be combined into one? Indeed Microsoft Word has lots of options, but many people use less then 10% of it and that example applies to other programs you use probably too.
Why to start a program for email, another program for documents, another program for images, another one for agenda and meetings, another for browsing the web, another for searching your file system for files, another one for playing music, another one for playing movies and yet another one for keeping track of time and meetings......
Why do we use so many incoherent software?
