FaceSDK 6.1: Emotion Detection and Facial Expression Recognition

Luxand, Inc. releases an update to FaceSDK, a leading face recognition and facial feature detection suite. FaceSDK 6.1 implements a brand-new Facial Expression Recognition technology, enabling developers building application recognizing base human emotions and detecting whether the person has her eyes open. The new technology offers a high recognition rate, and is available for both stills and video streams. Customers ordering before the year end are eligible to receive two licenses for the price of one.

Facial Expression Recognition

The new facial expression recognition engine available in FaceSDK 6.1 offers developers two basic abilities: the ability to detect whether the person has her eyes open, and the ability to detect whether the person is smiling.

Sensing whether a person has her eyes open enables developers building better camera apps with blink detection or implementing sleep monitoring in applications such as DVR and work time control.

Smile recognition has endless possibilities in marketing, allowing building a working happiness meter. Detecting whether a person is happy helps automating target group analysis in marketing research or building customized marketing campaigns with two-way feedback.

Internal tests demonstrate 92% recognition rate for smile detection and nearly 100% rate for open eyes detection.

Pricing and Availability

Luxand FaceSDK 6.1 is immediately available. Version 6.1 constitutes a major upgrade. Users of previous versions are recommended to update their product to the latest release. A two-for-one deal is available for customers who purchase a new license before December 30, 2015.
