Environmental Hygienists Announce Removal of Dangerous Raccoon Feces From Attic of Ohio Home

By Phillip Fry on May 28 2015 | 598 Views

Certified Environmental Hygienists have removed all of the extensive amounts of dangerous raccoon feces that were contaminating the attic of a Maple Heights, Ohio, executive residence.

Montrose, MI, May 28, 2015 -- EnviroFry Upkeep Masters, LLC, Certified Environmental Hygienists on May 22 and 23, 2015, removed all of the extensive amounts of dangerous raccoon feces that were infesting the entire attic of a bank-owned, foreclosed Maple Heights, Ohio, executive residence.

Raccoons made an entry hole into the attic area of that suburban Cleveland home, lived there for many months until they were captured, and deposited a large amount of poop all over the attic insulation (raccoon latrines).

Deposited raccoon feces (poop) are very likely to contain roundworm eggs that can be hazardous to human health. The adult stage of the raccoon roundworm (Baylisascaris procyonis) lives in the raccoon’s intestine and produces microscopic eggs that are shed in the raccoon’s feces.

One raccoon roundworm can produce more than 100,000 eggs a day. A raccoon can pass millions of eggs in its feces every day, depending on how many worms are in its intestines. Once deposited in the environment, the eggs develop into the infectious form in 2-4 weeks, and can survive in the soil for several years.

If these infectious eggs are inadvertently swallowed by humans, other mammals, or birds, larvae (immature stage of worms) hatch out of the eggs and move into the organs of the body.

The larvae travel throughout the body and may cause serious eye disease, spinal cord or brain damage, or death. Discouraging raccoons from living around people and cleaning up raccoon latrines reduces the chance that people will get sick from raccoon roundworms.

To decontaminate and remove the dangerous raccoon feces and urine and contaminated building insulation from the Maple Heights, Ohio, home EnviroFry Upkeep Masters, LLC, Certified Environmental Hygienists used their high output ozone gas generators, large air scrubbing industrial HEPA and activated carbon filter machines, foggers that fog germ-killing biocides, plus their many hours of the labor-intensive work required for the complete physical removal of the feces and urine-infested building materials.

During the raccoon feces cleanup, the hygienists wore N-95 breathing, hard-hat helmets (to protect their heads against roofing nails poking through the roof into the attic), full body Tyvek enviro-protective body suits, disposable booties over their shoes, and disposable vinyl work gloves.

See the before and after pictures of the May, 2015, Maple Heights cleanup of the huge raccoon latrines at www.raccooncleanup.com.

The hygienists provide effective and professional raccoon, possum, squirrel, chipmunk, and rat or mouse feces and urine home and commercial building cleanup and bio-decontamination services for attics, crawl spaces, basements, garages, inside walls, ceiling, and floors, and any other building area anywhere in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kentucky, Missouri, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Virginia, and New England.
