Madrid, Spain, July 17, 2013 - Jennifer Panebianco, a girl from Vila-seca (Tarragona), has been unanimously chosen as the winner of an international award in France, gaining plaudits from the judges.
An eight-year-old violinist from Vila-seca has won the Marie Cantagrill international award in France, by unanimous decision of the panel of judges, meaning Jennifer Panebianco del Monaco can be regarded as a "girl prodigy". This news met with great celebrations in the Music School of Vila-seca, where she attends classes.
The panel of judges of the international violin contest unanimously awarded her first prize, with a special mention due to her tender age, given that she was competing against candidates of up to 15 years old.
She will have her debut as a soloist in France in October, with the Ariège Symphonic Orchestra, something that is unprecedented for such a young musician with such a technically-difficult instrument, a Music School spokesperson told Spanish news agency EFE.
The young violinist’s mother said: “Boys and girls playing in this orchestra are usually at least 17 years of age, so we’re delighted”, adding that her daughter "is naturally talented".
