Do Mold Testing & Remediation Protocol Plan for Flooded South Carolina Homes, Advises Phil Fry

Certified Environmental Hygienist Phillip Fry recommends that flooded South Carolina homes and commercial buildings be mold inspected and tested before and after the implementation of a mold remediat

Montrose, MI, 18 October 2015 -- "After the first step of removing water-damaged building materials (selective demolition) in flooded South Carolina residences and commercial buildings, the building should be thoroughly mold inspected and tested by an environmental or industrial hygienist to determine the extent, location, and types of mold growth in the gutted structure," recommends Phillip Fry, Certified Environmental Hygienist and Professional Industrial Hygienist.

"As part of the written report of the physical mold inspection and the lab analysis of collected surface and air mold samples, the hygienist should include a highly-detailed, step-by-step mold remediation protocol plan to be used by the property owner for either do-it-yourself mold remediation or to canvas for competitive bids from qualified mold remediation companies to implement the protocol plan," adds Mr. Fry, who is author of 5 mold books and webmaster since 1999 of the mold authority website www.moldinspector.com.

After the completion of the mold removal work, the building should be thoroughly inspected and tested ("clearance testing") by an environmental hygienist or industrial hygienist who has no financial connection with the remediation firm that actually carried out the mold removal project.

Most mold remediation flood jobs fail to pass initial clearance testing because of several factors:

1. The company has not found, killed, and removed all of the hidden mold in the house or commercial building.

2. The mold removal steps are incomplete and/or poorly executed by uncertified, untrained, and poorly-supervised workers.

3. The company fails to use the double mold kill provided by the combination of injecting high output ozone gas throughout the entire building and the spraying and fogging of all surfaces with an effective EPA-registered fungicide.

To schedule the mold inspection and testing of a flooded South Carolina house or commercial building, including the preparation of a mold remediation protocol plan, or to arrange for clearance testing after the completion of a mold remediation job, email Mr. Fry phil@moldinspector.com, or phone toll-free 866-300-1616 or cell phone 480-310-7970, or visit the websites www.carolinamoldinspection.com and www.moldexpertconsultants.com.
